Photoshop CS3 Extended 3D Capabilities

I love 3D imagery but don't like the hefty price tags of Maya/3DSMax, so this is very exciting to me. Adobe CS3 Extended has 3D support.
3D and motion support with the ability to edit 3D content and incorporate it into 2D compositions, paint and clone over multiple video frames, and more
The only thing that worries me about this is that Photoshop is a resource hog already, I wonder what is going to happen when you add all of these new features.

The only example of Photoshop using 3D is an aluminum can - how lame. But I am interested to see if this will be easy enough for people who normally only work in 2D to expand their horizons. I'm sure at first it will be the normal case - noobs pick up 3D and make websites into unusable monstrosities - but when people learn to use 3D then the internet will be a better place!
