Ultimate List of Datepickers
Tags: JavaScript, Open Source, Free Tools | on 11/12/07
Here is my ultimate list of almost 50 datepickers (popup calendars) each rated each based on useful features, documentation, customization options and internationalization.
If you see anything inaccurate in this table please let me know.
I have gathered this list over the last year that I have been developing jQuery UI Datepicker with Keith. I never used anyone else's code, but I certainly have gotten feature ideas from other datepickers - as I'm sure others have used features ideas that Keith and I have made.
If you feel I have rated a datepicker unfairly low or missed one from the list, let me know. I have probably overlooked something - there are so many great scripts out there it is hard to be perfectly objective and fair.

I've always wanted to be able to re-order my taskbar while I'm working and this little program does it. A simple but extremely useful tool. Taskbar Shuffle (Windows)
PHP Development in Eclipse

I have been writing a CakePHP application and quickly realized I need something better for PHP development then Dreamweaver. I found PDT (Eclipse with PHP Plugins) and I am amazed at the helper tools they have for PHP developers. It has auto complete, tree view to browse functions and syntax highlighting. I probably haven't scratched the surface for its features.
I was blown away with PDT I am going to use it from now on for PHP development. I had to do one setup for PDT to recognize CakePHP's thtml files:
- Window->Preferences
- General->Content Types->PHP Content Type
- Add in *.thml
Thats it! I'm looking forward to better application development with Eclipse.
Open Source Anti-Virus

Today I finally uninstalled Norton because it told me that I needed to renew my subscription. Needless to say, I was annoyed that the software I paid for was asking me for more money. Plus Norton is a system resource hog and is incredibly slow.
I researched for open source anti-virus software solution and decided on ClamWin (Windows). Overall I feel great about my decision. I am happy to rid my computer of the "Norton system resource hog" virus.
Customize Google Firefox Extension

Customize Google Firefox extension lets you do some great things to change how Google works. I am using it to remove the ads from Google search results and add Google Sense to the homepage. It works great, I have been wanting something like this for quite a while!
Zoom In and Marker Tool

Zoom it! (Windows) is a very click way of zooming in. It also comes with a marker that you could use in a presentation or something. A simple hotkey (Control+1 by default) will take you into zoom mode which you can zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel. I feel like another level of control has been added to my computer with zoom it!
